In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
We are about to enter the first 10 days of Dhu'l-hijjah wherein the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." The people asked, "Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?" He, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing."[Bukhari]
For that reason some scholars have ruled that these days are better than the final 10 days of Ramadhan, although the nights of Ramadhan are superior to these nights.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said that fasting on one of these days is equal to the reward of fasting for a whole year and standing in one of these nights in prayer is equal to standing in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr. It has also been narrated that the reward for actions in these days is multiplied seven hundred times.
The Day of Arafat (9 Dhu’l-hijjah) is the greatest day of the year. Fasting on this day wipes out the sins of the previous year and the year to come.
If we are not able to fast the first 9 days of the Dhu'l-hijjah, which begins on Wedesday, October 17, we should at least fast on the Day of Arafat. If we are able to fast two or three days then by fasting Monday or Thursday or both we will gain the reward of following the Sunnah. Likewise by fasting three of these days we will have performed the Sunnah of fasting three days in every month.
We should make abundant remembrance of Allah and du'a and perform much good deeds. Our prayer, fasting, charity, dhikr, supplication, reciting Qur'an, seeking knowledge, helping people, any righteous actions we do on these days will be greatly rewarded and beyond that are beloved to Allah.
May Allah grant us righteous deeds during these first 10 days of Dhu'l-hijjah and accept our deeds. Ameen.
Please don't forget us in your du'as. Jazakallahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
