بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
The Prophet said the best of faith is to bring happiness to another's heart. One of the ways is to get in touch with people you haven't been in contact with, like your old friends, acquaintances and relatives, especially those who have done you favors, big or small, in the past.
It is much easier now to keep in touch. If they are far way, you can call them, message them or email them. Have a list of people you are trying to get in touch, and contact them. Direct contact/calling is better than messaging or emailing them.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Religion is nasiha.". Nasiha is sincere concern, seeking good for others and do good for others.
Keeping in touch with old friends and relatives, and ask about their health and their family, etc, is from the expressed concern and love and take you out of your self-centeredness. We live to seek the pleasure of Allah and seeking the blessings and favors of Allah. So even with this little gesture becomes ways of shining light into our lives.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, stayed in touch even with the friends of his wife, Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her, even long after she passed away, and sent them presents. By honoring his wife, he honored her friends. This is sincere concern by being merciful to Allah's creation.
If people try to contact you, you reciprocate and don't put off replying. Something that can be done right right away, don't defer them to later. If you don't do things today, today, when will you do tomorrow's work.
If someone send you a salaam in writing, replying to the salaam is obligatory either you say it to yourself or writing back to them with the salaam.
Make routines. Routines add up. The believers who succeed are those who make routines of virtuous things, not just in religious acts but also social acts. For example, every week you invite some people over for food.
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: A man asked the Prophet, "What Islamic traits are the best?" The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Feed the people, and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know." [Bukhari]
May Allah give us understanding of the subtleties of the sunnah of the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace. Ameen.
Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
